Students typically take one to two classes per semester. The exact number depends on how early they start and how the classes fit within their high school schedule. Students in an Early/Middle College Program may take 12-18 credits a semester in their 13th year of high school.

Students can enroll in various courses, often including those that are part of the Michigan Transfer Agreement, such as English, communication, mathematics, social sciences, humanities, and social sciences. In addition, students may take career-focused courses. Dual enrollment courses can lead to MTA, even a Ferris certificate or an associate's degree. Enrollment is based on academic readiness which is determined by high school GPA,  test scores and/or high school grades.

AP classes can provide low-cost college credit if students score 3 or higher on the AP exam. 


FerrisNow does not provide transportation. Students need to arrange their own transportation if attending classes in-person on campus.

Tuition and book payments vary by high school and program. Some classes utilize Inclusive Access (online resources at a reduced cost) or Open Educational Resources (OER) in place of hard copy books. Check with your high school guidance office for more information. 

Contact your high school guidance office for approval to change your schedule. The guidance office will contact the FerrisNow office for all schedule changes. Changes must be authorized by the high school/career center. 


Students should review the orientation through their MyFSU or attend an online orientation. Orientation is intended to ensure that all dual-enrolled Bulldogs are well-prepared for the college experience.

If a student fails a class, it will be recorded on both their high school and college transcripts. The high school may require reimbursement for tuition if a student fails their college class.

Yes, FerrisNow provides academic progress updates to high school counselors and students can monitor their grades through the college's online platforms.

Dual-enrolled students are expected to attend college classes even if their high school is closed due to weather unless the university also closes.

Final grades are recorded on an official Ferris State University transcript. 

Complete the freshman application at www.ferris.edu and have your final high school transcript sent to Ferris along with any other college transcripts.
